About Memories Beach - Khao Lak's Surfing Hotspot

Why is it called Memories Beach?
Memories Beach is named after the Memories Beach Bar which was established in 2009 after the owner’s family restaurant was destroyed during the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami and was given the name “Memories” in tribute to all the lives lost in the Tsunami.

How to get to Memories Beach
Getting to Memories Beach is also part of the adventure. If you drive along Highway 4 from Khao Lak Center, take the first left after you pass the Wat Kom Nai Khet School. Follow the dirt road for 3km more. You will pass by the Elephant Home (definitely worth a stop!) and you will end up on Memories Beach.

You can also get to Memories Beach from Pakarang Beach just by crossing the river at Apsara Beach Resort, separating the two beaches.
What are the beach activities?
Surfing
Memories Beach is one of the top surfing spots in Thailand due to its decent, consistent waves and ideal conditions. Surf season starts with Monsoon, from April to November. You can also rely on surf forecasts to catch the perfect tides and wind.

With surfing101 lessons and hands-on practice available, it is an excellent spot, not only for seasoned surfers but also for beginners eager to catch their first waves and embark on an exciting surfing journey! You can get surf lessons with English-speaking instructors at Better Surf Thailand with the class starting from 1200 THB. You can also get private or group classes.
What about the surfboards? You can either rent it or even get your personalised surfboard. You can get the surfboards right at the beach from Salt Surf Cafe, RIPCURL or Pakarang Surf Shop.
