Alive Market Nang Thong

The Alive Market as its name implies, is a vibrant and popular night market, located in Khao Lak centre (La on). This central location is easily accessible for both tourists and locals making it a cultural and social hub where people come together to enjoy their evening.

Opening hours

Alive Market is open daily except on Wednesdays from 3 pm to 10 pm. The opening time may differ on government holidays.

Getting to the Alive Market

From Highway 4, turn to Nang Thong Road at the Nang Thong traffic light, and follow along the road to the beach for 500m. Turn right at the intersection and you will see Alive Market Khao Lak on your right, just in front of Nang Thong Beach.

What can you get at the Alive Market?

Food and drinks

Since it has recently opened, it features around 30 food stands offering a variety of local foods, and desserts for the sweet tooth. If you enjoy local favourites, you will love the Som Tum (Thai Papaya Salad), fresh seafood, and all sorts of fried snacks. If you’re not a fan of spicy Thai dishes, don’t worry, you can also have food options like kebabs, steak or fries providing a more familiar taste for tourists which you can enjoy with smoothies, mocktails, fresh drinks, or popsicles.

Souvenirs

There are a few shops where you can get souvenirs such as handcrafts, clothes, accessories and garments. The shops are not comparable with those at the Bang Niang Market but have a lot of potential to grow.

There is a craft workshop at the Alive Market where you can DIY a unique handcrafted piece of your own, for example, a painting which you can take back home as a memory of Khao Lak.

They recently stopped showing movies, but there is still an outdoor seating area to enjoy snacks and drinks. When it rains, there is a big covered restaurant where you can sit and grab a menu.
